For more than 60 years, outreach clinics staffed by UI Hospitals and Clinics physicians and nurses have supported the community-based health care system in Iowa. Their work provides specialty services in towns and cities throughout the state supplementing and supporting the care already received by patients within their local health care system.
UI physicians and nurses visit more than 40 Iowa communities offering more than 30 specialty clinics in local health care centers. Depending on the community need, clinics may be offered daily, weekly, or monthly.
Services provided in outreach clinics are typically consultative. Located in local health care facilities, the clinics use local medical services and laboratory facilities. In these ways, outreach clinics supplement and support the care already received by patients within their local health care system.
In addition to patient care, our outreach physicians also share their subspecialty expertise by providing educational opportunities for patients and local health care professionals.
