Primary Occupational Services

UI HealthWorks offers a number of programs to improve the health and wellness of workers while lowering worker-related health care costs.

With services to meet the needs of a variety of employers, UI HealthWorks partners with businesses to:

  • Lower direct work-related medical expenses
  • Lower indirect costs (lost time, insurance premiums)
  • Promote a healthier, more productive workforce

Employers can customize services to create the right combination for individual workplaces. All services are available on-site at 3 Lions Drive in North Liberty (located within the UI Family Care-North Liberty, facility).

Employment Health Management

UI HealthWorks assists with pre-employment health screenings and services designed to maintain a healthy and productive workforce, including:

  • Screening tests—TB, vision, audiograms, pulmonary function testing, EKGs, chest x-rays, lab studies
  • Physicals—Pre-employment, DOT, Annuals, Respirator
  • Drug and alcohol testing
  • Immunizations—Tetanus, Hepatitis A & B, Influenza
  • Fitness for duty exams

These services are available at UI HealthWorks, 3 Lions Drive, North Liberty. When appropriate, these services may also be brought to your facility.

Injury Management

UI HealthWorks helps you control workers compensation costs and facilitates workers’ safe and rapid return to the job site with:

  • Evaluation and treatment
  • On-site radiology
  • On-site prescription drug dispensary
  • Case management
  • Specialty care/hospital care
  • Independent medical examinations
  • Return-to-work programs
  • On-site physical therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Rehabilitation services

Employee Assistance Program

This work-based program is designed to aid in early detection and prevention of employee mental health and chemical dependency issues by offering:

  • 24-hour service and triage
  • Crisis intervention and problem solving counseling
  • Supervisor training
  • Organizational consultation
  • Preventative educational seminars
  • Further treatment when necessary

Work-site Surveillance and Consultation

Early recognition of work-related hazards can help prevent worker illness through services that include:

  • Ergonomic services
  • Industrial hygiene expertise
