Nursing Student Summer Employment

Each summer, the Department of Nursing Services and Patient Care offers a 10-week program for nursing students between their junior and senior years. The program enhances their education and clinical skills as they work as nursing assistants in a professional environment. The positions offer competitive wages and the opportunity to shadow a nurse in various nursing units. Program dates vary each year but generally begin about the third week of May and run through the end of July. Students may work up to 30-40 hours per week.

Opportunities exist in all nursing divisions:

Placement is determined by the student’s interest and availability of positions.


  • Application acceptance will begin on October 15th, 2015, and run through 5 p.m. on January 15, 2016
  • Applicants must fill out this form along with their resume and send it to by the date above (5 p.m. on January 15, 2016) to be considered for the program
  • Offers will be made by the middle of January (if not sooner)



Nursing Students must meet the following qualifications:

  • Must be between junior and senior year at a four-year college or university
  • Have completed an acute care clinical
