UI Health Care Initiatives
UI Health Care's strategic plan represents a unity of interest and strategic intent among all UI Health Care stakeholders. Rather than having separate strategic plans for UI Hospitals and Clinics, the UI Carver College of Medicine, and UI Physicians, this plan represents an alignment of interest and shared ownership of the goals.
The updated plan for FY 2014-2016 presents the evolution of the six strategic goals as UI Health Care continues its strong focus on patient care, quality and safety; innovative education; leading-edge discovery; development of its people; strengthening inclusion and diversity; and achieving growth and sustained financial success, against the backdrop of health care reform, partnerships and new opportunities to serve the health needs of Iowans and the world.
The University of Iowa Health Alliance (UIHA) includes 20 hospitals and more than 1,900 physicians. The members of the Alliance are working together to advance the quality of health care services, improve the health status of patients and communities, and achieve efficiencies that will help member organizations reduce the rising cost of health care.
UIHA is creating a platform for sharing expertise, selected support services, and information technologies needed to succeed in the emerging "accountable care" systems and payment programs. Working together in UIHA, members will strive to increase the value of services provided, improve clinical integration among the members, provide more streamlined and coordinated care to patients, and ultimately improve the health of people in Iowa and other regions served.
Institute for Clinical and Translational Science
The ICTS is one of 60 leading medical research institutions located throughout the nation participating in the Clinical and Translational Science Award Consortium and is supported in part by award number 2 UL1 TR000442-06 from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, and the National Institutes of Health.
