Williamson among “2011 Women of Influence”
Ann Williamson, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, associate vice president for Nursing, UI Health Care, and CNO, UI Hospitals and Clinics, is one of nine Iowa City-area leaders receiving recognition as “Women of Influence” for “exerting their influence in a wide variety of areas to improve the … corridor.” The annual honor is sponsored by The Corridor Business Journal, a news weekly distributed throughout the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City/ area.

DAISY Award winner featured nationally
Brenda Walker-Connell, RN, is highlighted on the national website for the the DAISY Foundation, a nationwide program that rewards and celebrates extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses. UI Hospitals and Clinics, a DAISY partner, recognizes nurses with a DAISY award each month, and Walker-Connell was the hospital’s winner in April, 2011.

19th Annual National EBP Conference in May
The 19th National Evidence-Based Practice Conference, “Remaking Health Care,” will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 4. The Pre-Conference will be from 12:30 – 5:30 p.m. on May 3;  the VA Nursing Program (for VA Nurses only) will be from 8 to 11:00 a.m. on May 3rd. 100 Great Iowa Nurses features 12 from UI Hospitals and Clinics
Twelve nurses from UI Hospitals and Clinics were among this year’s honorees on the 100 Great Iowa Nurses list. The annual list is produced through a cooperative effort of The Iowa Nurses Association, the Iowa Nurses Foundation, and the UI College of Nursing. Nominations are solicited from colleagues, patients, doctors, friends, and family members. Each year, the field of nominees is narrowed to 100 by a panel of reviewers including nursing professionals and previous award winners. Since 2005, 84 nurses from UI Hospitals and Clinics have received this honor. Click here to see a list of this year’s honorees.
