At the Patients' Library, you'll find a quiet comfortable place to read, explore, and learn about your health.

Visit the library on the eighth floor of Colloton Pavilion, near elevator F, anytime from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 1 to 4 p.m. weekends. Contact by phone at: 319-356-2468.

Books, magazines, and newspapers are available for check out. You can also check out laptop computers, music and video players, and video game consoles and games.

Health Information Center

The library houses a number of printed and online resources to help you track down treatment and recovery information for specific diseases and conditions.

Children's Story Hour

The librarian or a visiting storyteller presents story hour every Wednesday morning at 10:30. Stickers and bookmarks are a bonus at the end of these events. Children of all ages and their families are welcome. On some occasions, the Patients' Library sponsors visiting storybook characters who visit the clinics and in-patient areas. The Patients' Library is grateful to Barnes and Noble for providing most of these visits for the children.

Free Book Cart

A book cart stocked with free books has been provided by Children's Miracle Network and the Patients' Library. Volunteers visit pediatric inpatients twice weekly and help them select a free book.

Room Delivery

The library can deliver materials directly to your room, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please call 6-2468 on a hospital phone to place your request.

Other Services

The library offers patients a number of communication services, including internet access, fax service, photocopying, and laser printing. Library staff and volunteers can help you download pictures and prepare CarePages, communicating to friends and family the condition of your loved one.

Monetary Gifts and Donations of Materials to the Patients' Library

The Patients' Library welcomes donations of books, children's materials, current magazines, magazine subscriptions, videos, audio books, and volunteer time.
