  • UIHC Doctor's New Pacemaker Procedure Draws National & International Attention

    November 16 - KCRG - Dr. Michael Giudici created a new procedure that eliminates the scarring from a pacemaker implantation. The new technique changes the placement of the pacemaker and only requires two small incisions.

    November 25 - WCF Courier - Roger Batchelder was clearing trees from his neighbor's property on Halloween when the wind changed directions and the trunk of a tree began falling toward him.

  • La Porte City Man's Hand Saved Following Chainsaw Accident

    November 21 - KWWL - Roger Batchelder's hand was successfully re-attached after a chainsaw severed his hand last month. He has been recovering at UI Hospitals and Clinics since the October 31 accident.

    November 2 - Quad-City Times - Dr. Michael Giudici has been practicing a new technique to insert pacemakers in heart patients at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for six weeks.

  • Football Caused One-Third of Concussions at Iowa Universities Last Year

    November 3 - Cedar Rapids Gazette - Student-athletes at Iowa’s three state universities suffered twice as many concussions in practice as they did in games or competitions in 2011-2012, according to a Gazette review. Dr. Andy Peterson leads a UI concussion clinic every Monday for student-athletes with fresh concussions and those who have ongoing concussion care.
