February 14 - KCRG - Doctors at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics began routine newborn heart screenings on Tuesday that test for seven types of heart defects. Those defects appear in about 4,800 births every year in the U.S.

February 20 - Press-Citizen - The number of transplants conducted at the UI Hospitals and Clinics Organ Transplant Center has increased steadily in recent years, thanks in large part to an increased number of donors, said Ian Jamieson, chief administrative officer at the center.
