The Ronald McDonald House of Iowa Cityserves as a “home away from home” for families of children up to age 18 who are receiving critical medical care at UI Hospitals and Clinics. Referrals are prioritized on a waiting list according to the severity of the child’s illness and distance traveled. Guests are charged a nominal fee for a room.

The Russell and Ann Gerdin American Cancer Society Hope Lodge

The Russell and Ann Gerdin American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, provides 28 rooms for cancer patients and their caregivers, offering free, non-medical lodging for as well as convenient access to The University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at UI Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City VA Medical Center, and Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Any person age 18 and older who has been diagnosed with cancer and is actively receiving outpatient cancer treatment in Iowa City, is eligible to stay at the Hope Lodge on a first come first served basis.
