About the Program

Medical and Dental Licensure

Every resident or fellow is responsible for acquiring appropriate medical or dental licensure prior to practicing medicine or dentistry at UI Hospitals and Clinics. State of Iowa law prohibits practice without the proper license.

Medical Licensure

Residents and fellows should apply for either a resident license (specific to their program) or a permanent medical license at least three months in advance from the Iowa Board of Medicine. Contact the Iowa Board of Medicine at 515-281-6641.

Dental Licensure
