University of Chicago - Pritzker
I grew up in Flint, Michigan and attended Lyman Briggs College at Michigan State University, in East Lansing, Michigan, where I received a degree in Physiology. I then moved to Chicago, where I attended medical school at the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine. In medical school I was active in underserved medicine and was fortunate enough to go to Cuba on a medical aide mission. My interests include mental health, preventive medicine, chronic disease, adolescent health, and healthcare for the underserved.
There are many reasons why I chose the University of Iowa for my residency. From the first time I came to visit I loved the city and its incredible spirit. People are incredibly friendly and supportive of local businesses and farmers. I also have to admit it was great to return to the “Big Ten”. Where else can you be on call and still watch a live college football game? The staff and faculty are incredibly approachable, nurturing, and supportive; and there is a strong academic base with a curriculum that is constantly evolving.
I am very proud of my Peruvian background and enjoy traveling to Lima, Peru to visit my extended family. I enjoy hiking, outdoor activities, sports, traveling, cooking -- trying to master the Peruvian cuisine and spending time with family and friends.
