Texas A&M University
I am originally from Birmingham, AL and completed my undergraduate studies in English at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. I moved to Iowa from Texas where I attended medical school at Texas A&M. During medical school I became interested in health care delivery models and the field of geriatrics, so I spent an extra year during medical school, completing an MBA program at Texas A&M’s Mays Business School. For my final MBA consulting project I worked with Scott & White Healthcare, the largest multi-specialty practice in Texas, analyzing opportunities to improve care transitions as a way of reducing hospital readmissions. I learned a tremendous amount and plan on continuing to conduct research in the area of care transitions.
I met my wife while at BYU and we have been married for almost ten years. We’ve welcomed five wonderful children into our family during the intervening years. My wife and I wanted a residency program that would not only provide me with exceptional training, but one that would be in an environment conducive to raising our young family. We were excited to match to the University of Iowa for both of these reasons!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about the residency program or about my thoughts about the area.
