Rheumatology Outpatient

During 3 of the 4 weeks, the resident rotates in clinic with various Rheumatology staff to gain experience with the evaluation and management of common presentations including joint pain and swelling, muscle aches, musculoskeletal weakness, regional pain, and non-articular signs and symptoms of rheumatologic conditions such as Raynaud’s phenomenon and skin rash.  With the guidance of the Staff Rheumatologist, the resident will diagnose and manage diseases including fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, crystalline and infectious arthropathies as well as systemic conditions such as scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosus and various forms of vasculitides. The resident spends one of the four weeks on the Rheumatology Consult Service.
