Marisa is a graduate of Duke University School of Medicine where she also obtained a PhD in Molecular Cancer Biology studying programmed cell death and metabolic regulation of Caspase-2. Her thesis work was published in Developmental Cell, and she has also authored a review detailing metabolic integration of cell growth in Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology. Marisa is interested in cancer signaling and will be doing postdoctoral research on the role of dystroglycan in cancer. She enjoys spending time with her husband, running, cooking, and training canine obedience.
