Study to Investigate the Acute Effects of High-Fat Meals on Blood Vessel Function
Description

You are invited for a University of Iowa (UI) study of the acute effects of a high-fat meal on blood vessel function.

    • Healthy, non-smoking adults age 18-35years
    • Sedentary adults age 50-79 years
    • Highly physically active adults age 50-79 years

Sedentary adults must be performing less than 2 days of light/moderate physical activity. Highly physically active adults must be performing vigorous aerobic/endurance exercise (running, cycling, etc.) for >= 45 min/day, >= 5 days/week for at least the past 2 years or more. Female participants 50-79 years must be postmenopausal for at least one year. Subjects must be willing to fast for 8 hours prior to each test meal and to complete a treadmill exercise test.

Participants will have a variety of non-invasive vascular measurements and blood samples taken during the study.

Participants will have 5 visits over a 4 to 5 week period.

Participants will be compensated for their time.
