Volunteers 15-20 years old are invited to participate in a study investigating the safety of Selective Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs). SSRIs include Prozac (Fluoxetine), Zoloft (Sertraline), Celexa (Citalopram), Lexapro (Escitalopram), Luvox (Fluvoxamine), and Paxil (Paroxetine). SSRIs are used to treat depression or anxiety.
To participate, you must be medically healthy and you must have started taking an SSRI within the last month OR elected not to take an SSRI. Other restrictions may apply.
This study is observational; no medications will be given to participants. Visits will involve filling out questionnaires, blood tests, and X-rays. Your psychiatric/medical care will remain with your regular doctor throughout the study.

Individuals with a history of a gambling problem are invtied to take part in a follow up study examining variations in gambling, health, and other behaviors over time. We are seeking people with a compulsive gambling problem who are either under age 40 years or are 60 years or older.Volunteers must agree to be contacted every six months through 2015 to answer questions about their gambling, health, and other behaviors. You do NOT need to visit Iowa City to take part in the research. We will be happy to come to your town to meet with you for the initial interview.
The initial interview will last approximately 3-4 hours. People will be compensated $75 plus travel and parking expenses.
Follow up interviews will take 30-60 minutes and are conducted by phone. People will be compensated $35 for each follow up interview.

Volunteers between the ages of 30-55 who have no mental health diagnoses, are right handed, and use marijuana regularly are invited to participate in a brain imaging study at the UI Department of Psychiatry.
Participants must be willing to undergo P.E.T. imaging and an MRI scan. The study will require 3 visits to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics for a total of about 8-9 hours.

Adolescents between the ages of 13-18 (who are still in jr. high or high school) with no family history of alcohol problems are invited to participate in a research study investigating brain development conducted at the Department of Psychiatry.
Study will last 1-2 visits and involve filling out forms, saliva sample, cognitive testing and an MRI scan (no radiation). Parents will be asked to fill out family history forms. Additionally, both parents should have no more than a 4 year college degree. Compensation available.
