Cancer Information Service
The Cancer Information Service answers questions about cancer.
Whether you are a patient, family member, friend, health professional or a school child writing a report, the Cancer Information Service provides answers to your questions about cancer. As a follow-up to your question, the CIS often provides written materials from a variety of national organizations.
The Cancer Information Service provides information on:
- Risk factors for cancer and how to reduce your risk
- Screening tests for cancer
- Diagnostic tests
- Any type of cancer
- Treatment options, including clinical trials
- Coping skills
- Community resources
- Cancer Statistics
Cancer Information Service staff members do not make medical recommendations but respond to general questions about cancer and act as an information resource. The Cancer Information Service at Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at The University of Iowa is designed to provide cancer educational materials and information and does not render medical advice or professional services. If you have or suspect you may have a health problem, you should consult your health care provider.
