UI Health Care Marketing and Communications
March 2012

Ten
nurses at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics have been named to the list
of 100 Great Iowa Nurses for 2012.
This
year's announcement brings the number of UI Hospitals and Clinics nurses who
have received this recognition to 95 since 2005.
Those
recognized this year from UI Hospitals and Clinics are Donna Dolezal, Peggy
Folkmann, Barbara Freyenberger, Joe Greiner, Amanda Herbst, Janet Hosking,
Deborah Kohler, Sheryl Lang, Mary Lee Neuberger, and Sandra Roberts.
The
UI Hospitals and Clinics nurses will be recognized during National Nurses Week
in May. A statewide recognition event is scheduled for May 6 in Des Moines.
The
Iowa Nurses Association, Iowa Nurses Foundation, Iowa Hospital Association, and
University of Iowa College of Nursing have partnered to create this event that
celebrates nursing by honoring 100 nurses from around the state each year.
Colleagues, patients, doctors, friends, and family members submit nominations.
UI
Hospitals and Clinics received the prestigious Magnet Hospital Designation from
the American Nurses Credentialing Center in 2004, becoming the first hospital
in Iowa to earn the international award. It then became the first hospital in
the state to be recognized a second time as a Magnet hospital in 2008.
