Earlier this season, Hawkeye fans and supporters of UI Children's Hospital were invited to go on-line and pledge a dollar amount for every touchdown scored by the Hawkeyes during the regular season.
In its first year, the Iowa Touchdowns for Kids program received 1,348 pledges that include individuals and sponsors, potentially resulting in $181,966.50 for UI Children’s Hospital. The Hawkeyes scored 45 touchdowns, meaning each one netted more than $4,040 in pledges, making the average individual pledge about $3 per touchdown.
The Iowa Touchdowns for Kids was presented by the Eastern Iowa Airport, to benefit University of Iowa Children’s Hospital through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. For the list of sponsors, visit the Iowa Touchdown for Kids website.
