Our inpatient renal/medicine unit is devoted to caring for patients with special kidney problems and patients with end-stage renal disease as well as patients with general medical problems.
The dialysis program at UIHC provides kidney replacement therapy for patients with acute kidney failure and chronic kidney failure. In addition to in-center dialysis, UIHC has one of the longest-running home dialysis programs in the country and trains patients with end-stage kidney disease to perform peritoneal dialysis or hemodialysis in the home.
We also have a transplantation service that provides expertise in transplantation medicine to patients who receive a kidney transplant as well as those who receive heart, lung, pancreas and liver transplants.
