Go Red Girl Scouts Patch Program
To help girls learn to make healthier choices and empower the women they love to do the same, the Girl Scouts, American Heart Association, and UI Heart and Vascular Center have teamed up to offer a Go Red Girl Scouts patch.
Some of the activities required to earn the patch are offered below. For complete Go Red Patch requirements visit the Go Red Girl Scout Patch Page.
Heart Education Activities
Create a high energy dance/workout to go with the song "To Your Heart Be True.” Include the actions mentioned in the song. Perform your dance/workout as a troop.
Read this story about about a young heart patient named Ellie and share it with your family.
To volunteer at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, have your troop leader contact Volunteer Services. Volunteering possibilities include craft projects, making hand-made cards or letters, book and movie drives and collecting dress-up clothes for young heart patients. If you are age 14 or older, you may be able to visit patients.
Girls Day Out
To earn the Go Red Girl Scouts Patch in one day, you can attend the annual “Girls Day Out.” This is a fun and hands-on event about heart health for women and girls. For complete details, you can email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 319-356-2777.
