Don St. John, PA-C, director of the Physician Assistant in Psychiatry Fellowship, works in the Adult Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Since joining the University of Iowa in 1995, St. John has worked exclusively in psychiatry. He is particularly interested in treatment-resistant depression and borderline personality disorder -- he is a co-developer of STEPPS, a group treatment program for borderline personality disorder.
St. John earned his bachelor's degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While working in rural family practice and emergency department settings, he earned his maters' degree in clinical psychology from Wheaton College.
He has taught students studying to be physician assistants for most of his career. He has also published and presented extensively on psychiatric issues to various medical groups.
