PREVIOUS RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:
Assistant and Associate Research Scientist, University of Iowa, Aug. 1999 - June 2009. Research focused on improving detection methodology for carcinoma cells in the blood, minimal residual disease and clinical outcome in carcinomas; CpG immunotherapy in lymphomas and leukemias; complement's role in tumor establishment and growth; and association studies of complement genetic mutations and clinical outcome in breast cancer and follicular lymphomas.

1) ) Research assistant, Dartmouth Medical School, 6/08-3/08. Quality assurance project to evaluate MRSA colonization status of ICU patients for surveillance and to determine incidence of invasive infections.
2) Summer research assistant, Dartmouth Medical School, 6/06-8/06. Molecular pathology lab. I extracted mRNA from 70 paraffin embedded breast cancer tissue specimens and used real-time reverse transcriptase PCR to detect and quantify the gene products.

During this 4 week research elective, I continued work begun in 2006 on the characterization of TIM proteins and their role in atopic disease and asthma in a mouse model.
2) Summer Research Fellow University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, 05/2006 - 08/2006. Worked with Paul Rothman, M.D. in the Department of Internal Medicine.
Conduced twelve weeks of research focused on the role of TIM proteins and SOC-7 in the pathogenesis of atopic disease using a mouse model.
