Your Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program Interview

Hotel Accommodations

There are many great hotels in the area to accommodate you. We do, however, have a block of rooms reserved with the Heartland Inn with a special room rate of $68.99 plus tax. Phone: 319-351-8132.
A second option is at the Sheraton Iowa City Hotel with a special room rate of $78.00 plus tax. Phone: 319-337-4058 (ask for the front desk).

A shuttle will be available to bring you to and from the hospital for your interview if needed.

The Night Before Your Interview: 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

You are invited to have dinner with our residents at Mondo’s Draft House in Coralville, Iowa. This is a great time to get together with other applicants as well as current residents in our program to relax a bit before your interview, eat a good meal (at our expense) and talk about the program at Iowa. Dress comfortably (blue jeans are fine).

The Day of Your Interview/Parking: 7:15 a.m. at Elevator L

Please plan to arrive at the hospital at 7:15 a.m. You will want to park in Ramp 4 (far south end of the hospital off of Hawkins Drive). You will want to enter into the Pomerantz Family Pavilion located at the far south end of the hospital. If you park in ramp 4, drop down to level 2 where you’ll find the skyway that leads into the hospital. When you enter into the hospital, go straight and you’ll wind around to your left where you’ll find Elevator L. Drop down to the first floor to meet Nanci Wieneke at 7:15 a.m. She will take you from that point forward. A parking pass will be provided to you at the end of your day. A continental breakfast will be served @ 7:30. Individual interviews will begin around 8:45 a.m. followed by a resident guided tour of our facilities. Lunch with faculty, fellows and residents will be served from noon to 1:00 in the Melrose Conference Center followed by a 30 minute session with Obstetrics and Gynecology Department Head, Dr. Kimberly Leslie.

Travels

If you are traveling from the Cedar Rapids Airport you will need to take I-380 South to I-80 East. Once you are on I-80 you will need to take Exit 240 (you will see a very large shopping mall). You’ll need to get onto Highway 6 East (or 2nd street). Mondo’s and Heartland Inn are both located on 2nd Street in Coralville, IA.
