     Residents Meeting

Thank you for your interest in the Family Medicine Residency Program at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Our three-year accredited residency program in our NCQA-recognized Level II medical home will prepare you for any of a number of future careers: small town family practice in rural Iowa, research and education in an academic medical center, leadership within the discipline of family medicine, and more. Our program provides ample elective time to individualize your training.

Iowa City is a cosmopolitan community in the heart of American farmland, and the Family Medicine Residency Program is a microcosm of its hometown. Close professional relationships form between residents and faculty as our program marries the breadth and variety of experiences at a large academic health center with the personal touch of family medicine.

Please, browse our site and contact us with any questions you may have. We are glad you are here!

    Health is Primary

In addition to identifying and treating sickness, family physicians provide checkups, health-risk reviews, shots and screening tests, and personal treatment on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Family doctors also manage long-lasting illness, often coordinating care provided by other doctors. From heart disease, stroke, and high blood pressure to diabetes, cancer, and asthma, family physicians provide ongoing, personal care for the most serious health problems. Family doctors are the key to an ongoing, personal patient-doctor relationship focusing on life-long care. To find out more follow the link below to Health is Primary.
