Georgina Aldridge

  • Hometown: San Francisco
  • Undergraduate School: Cornell University¬†
  • Medical School: University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, PhD Neuroscience
  • Before Medical School (list items you enjoyed doing, jobs you had, etc): Pigeon breeding (homing pigeons/fancy breeds). metal detecting. Horseback riding: Polo in college. running (did a marathon in 2009. ran across France 2002).
  • Medical Interest: Memory disorders, dementia, stroke rehab and epilepsy.
  • Nonmedical Interest: Technology and science fiction, hobby farming, epilepsy
  • Why Iowa? When choosing a residency program I had two very specific requirements: 1) a very strong research program in the neurosciences, and 2) a mid-sized town where I could buy an acreage property within easy commute of the hospital. Iowa fit and exceeded my requirements.
  • Future Plans: My goal is to become an academic physician-scientist, studying the underpinnings of memory and thought in the laboratory, while treating and learning from the individuals affected by the neurological diseases in clinic. I believe we are all subject to nature's experiments, and the best¬†thing we can do is try to learn.
