Residents in the Family Medicine-Psychiatry Residency Program work hard and play hard together. Our residents participate in various group activities that strengthen our community and build tight-knit, long-term relationships with one another.

NAMI Hearts and Minds

NAMI Hearts and Minds is an online, interactive, educational initiative promoting the idea of wellness in both mind and body. Wellness is an ongoing process of learning how to make choices that support a more successful, healthy life.


Residents show their support for people affected by mental illness by participating in NAMIWalks. The National Alliance for Mental Illness holds events in Iowa City, Davenport, and Des Moines. Take a look at this article on two 2015 NAMI events in Iowa.

Doc Dash is an annual 5k run/walk sponsored by the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and the Rubin Flocks Learning Community. Funds raised support the Iowa City Free Medical Clinic.
