The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Iowa provides an exceptional training environment for physician assistants interested in psychiatry. The department has employed physician assistants for many years and is dedicated to maintaining a collaborative, team-based approach to patient care.
Physician assistants who have completed our one-year fellowship are actively employed in primarily psychiatric settings. Our most recent graduate, for example, is the primary provider of child and adolescent psychiatry services in one of the most underserved portions of the state. Interestingly, this graduate is supervised via telemedicine technology by the faculty members who trained him at the University of Iowa.
