In addition to lectures and conferences in family medicine and psychiatry, residents in our combined program participate in educational activities that are specific to combined training.
Family Medicine-Psychiatry residents host a monthly Journal Club in which they select and present an article of interest. Journal Club is coordinated by the Family Medicine-Psychiatry chief residents and residents take turns hosting it at their home on a volunteer basis. Residents and faculty from other programs may attend as well.
In addition to the article review, Journal Club is also used as an opportunity to socialize and discuss various program topics between residents and faculty. First year residents have found it particularly helpful when transitioning into resident life as the other residents understand the excitement and frustration associated with residency.
Association of Medicine and Psychiatry Annual Meeting
Our residents attend the Association of Medicine and Psychiatry’s annual conference as a group activity. Residents are active in the Association of Medicine and Psychiatry and many serve as leaders on committees. Each year, residents have presented posters and cases at the Association of Medicine and Psychiatry's annual conference.
