Research Interests: Computaitonal Fluid Dynamics in Cardiovascular Diseases: Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is the emerging area of research in biomedical area. The principles of CFD can be applied to better understand the physiology and fluid dynamics of complex congenital heart disease both before and after surgical repairs. CFD can obviate the need for performing studies on experimental models, is less costly and provides quicker results. After creating the geometric models from patient-specific images of the cardiovascular structures or using the closest hypothetical models, behavior of the fluid (blood) in that reconstructed model can be studied by means of special software utilizing various mathematical equations. I am interested in exploring the application of CFD principles in the cardiovascular diseases or conditions that have not been studied before.
