Multiple Obstetrics and Gynecology residents have been nominated for or received Resident Teacher of the Year awards from the entire College of Medicine M3 or M4 class. Dr. Adrienne Adams, R4, was the 2014 winner of the M3 Resident of the Year award and a finalist for the M4 Resident of the Year award. Eric Tyler, R3, residency class of 2016, was a finalist for resident teacher of the year from the College of Medicine 2015 M3 class. Lydia Alexander, R1, residency class of 2018 was nominated by the College of Medicine 2015 medical students and received the Arnold Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award.

Junior Faculty of the Year selected by the College of Medicine 2015 M3 class was Holly-Marie Bolger, DO.

Amandeep Mahal, MD, residency class of 2014, was elected ACOG District VI Junior Fellow Vice Chair, 2012-2013, and served as ACOG District VI Junior Fellow chair 2013-14. Dr. Adrianne Racek, R2, and Dr. Abigail Mancuso, R2, were respectively elected ACOG District VI Junior Fellow Vice Chair and Secretary, 2014-15.

Our physicians are active in all arenas from local to international and have received recognition of their efforts.

  • Dr. Nolle Bowdler, MD, was selected to receive the 2015 College of Medicine Faculty Service Award for service to the College of Medicine, UIHC, state and national levels.
  • Dr. Abbey Hardy-Fairbanks was awarded the 2015 Clinician of the Year from the University of Iowa Physicians.
  • Dr. Veronika Kolder was awarded the 2015 Patient Satisfaction and Service Excellence Award from the University of Iowa Physicians.
  • Dr. Kimberly Leslie, chair and departmental executive officer for the UI Carver College of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, was elected to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Council on Councils, a 27 member board that advises the NIH Director.
  • Dr. Thomas Gellhaus elected President elect of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists with the term beginning in 2016.
  • Dr. Colleen Stockdale received the 2014 Best Consulting Provider Award from the University of Iowa Physicians.
  • Dr. Ginny Ryan was named a 2014 Woman of Influence by the Corridor Business Journal for her work with Girls on the Run locally, and for her dedication to care for women here and in Haiti.
  • Dr. Colleen Stockdale received a 2014 Distinguished Mentor of the Year Award from the District VI Junior Fellows, American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
  • Dr. Merida Miller received a 2013 GME clinical coaching award selected from across all UIHC residency programs and nominated by the residents.
  • Dr. Kelly Ward received the 2012 Patient Satisfaction and Service Excellence Award from the University of Iowa Physicians.
  • Dr. Thomas Gellhaus received the Mentor Award from the Junior Fellows, American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 2012.
  • Dr. Rachel Maassen received a Forty under Forty Award from the Corridor Business Journal for her outstanding leadership and for making a significant impact on the corridor community.
