Tipton Middle School Junior Mini Medical School

6th grade students from Tipton will be coming to campus to experience a day in the life of a medical student and will be engaging in simulated activities with current medical students and faculty. This is a private group event.

Workplace Learning Connection - Junior Mini Medical School (3-11-15)

Ottumwa High School Junior Mini Medical School

Students from Ottumwa High School will be on campus to experience what it might be like to be a medical student for a day, learning about the admission process to medical school, exploring human anatomy and engaging in medical student simulated experiences.

Tama County STEM Festival

Event Start: Sunday, 22 March 2015 :: 1:00 PM

Location: South Tama County Elementary School, Tama, Iowa

Medical students from the Carver College of Medicine will be engaging participants in STEM related hands-on activities such as learning how to perform minimally invasive surgery laparoscopic surgical trainer and viewing plastinated heart, lung, and brain specimens. This event is open to the public.

UI Children's Hospital & Children's Miracle Network Wal Mart event

Event Start: Wednesday, 25 March 2015 :: 10:30 AM

Location: Coralville Marriott

Along with other tables of interactive activities and information, current Carver College of Medicine students will be engaging Wal Mart employees in trying their hand at a laparoscopic surgical trainer and seeing real human plastinated specimens. This is a private group event.

Interstate 35 Junior Mini Medical School

Middle school students from Interstate 35 will be on campus for a Junior Mini Medical School day. Dubuque STEM Festival (4-18-15)

Location: Dubuque

Current Carver College of Medicine students will engage participants in hands-on activities to inspire appreciation and create excitement for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Kids will learn how STEM is important to careers in health care and how it relates to being a healthy kid!

Workplace Learning Connection - Genetics Interest Day (4-23-15)

High school students who have registered through Workplace Learning Connection and have an interest in a career in genetics will be visiting UI Health Care to explore and learn more about the field through talking with various physicians and staff members. This is a private group event.

Southeast Iowa STEM Festival (4-25-15)

Event Start: Saturday, 25 April 2015 :: 10:00 AM

Location: Southeastern Community College - West Burlington Campus

Current Carver College of Medicine students will be engaging students in interactive, hands-on activities. Participants will learn about sun safety, and how to protect their skin to prevent skin cancer by making a UV bracelet; see and touch real plastinated human specimens and learn about human anatomy by examining a brain, heart, healthy and diseased lungs. This event is open to the public. 

Northeast Iowa Family STEM Festival (4-30-2015)

Event Start: Thursday, 30 April 2015 :: 4:00 PM

Event End: Thursday, 30 April 2015 :: 7:00 PM

Location: Northeast Iowa Community College, Wilder Business Center, Calmar, Iowa

Current University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine students will be on hand to assist kids in "scrubbing up" for surgery and testing their visual-spatial skills on the laparoscopic surgical trainer to see what it is like to perform a minimally invasive surgery. Kids will also learn about human anatomy by examining real human plastinated specimens. 

This event is open to the public. 

West Liberty Project HOPE Junior Mini Medical School (5-18-2015)
