We want your labor and birth to be a positive experience, and we want you to have a healthy baby. The Labor and Delivery Unit has eight labor and delivery rooms, a dedicated ultrasound room and 4 triage/recovery rooms. After your delivery you will stay in one of our 28 mother -baby-care rooms, nicely furnished with large customized memory foam beds, whirlpool baths, a la carte meal menus, media players and internet access and pullout couches.
The UI Maternity Center embraces the concept of family-centered care. For maternity care, this means that fathers and support persons are invited to participate in the child's birth. Siblings are encouraged to visit.
Our nearby Special Care Nurseries house our Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery and transitional units for babies as they prepare to go home. Led by University of Iowa Children's Hospital neonatologists and a nursing staff second to none, you can rely on the highest level of care available in this region.
