The Stroke Center sees patients with vascular diseases of the nervous system. Our patient care emphasizes compassion, convenience and comfort as well as the most advanced technical expertise in an academic medical center.
The Stroke Center offers referring physicians a 24/7 consultation with a stroke physician and our nurse coordinator facilitates transfer of patients to our care.
The Stroke Center tests promising medical or surgical therapies to prevent or treat stroke, and our physicians have helped develop important clinical instruments that are used around the world. The two most prominent are The National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale and the Acute Stroke Treatment Classification.
