LynchAndWeckmann

Family Medicine-Psychiatry, located in the Family Medicine Clinic on the Lower Level of the Pomerantz Family Pavilion, provides psychiatric care for patients by providers who are trained in both Psychiatry and Family Medicine. The clinic is staffed by Alison Lynch, MD, and Michelle Weckmann, MD, who are board certified in both Family Medicine and Psychiatry. Residents who are training simultaneously in Family Medicine and Psychiatry provide care under the supervision of Drs. Lynch and Weckmann. Patients benefit from the seamless integration of these areas in Family Medicine-Psychiatry at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Patients receiving care through the Family Medicine Clinic can easily access Family Medicine-Psychiatry services. Collaboration between Family Medicine-Psychiatry and Family Medicine is easy because the clinics are co-located, allowing for easy and productive communication between physicians.

Any medical issues a patient may have and their current medications are reviewed during this visit. A mental status examination and discussion of treatment recommendations will also be a part of this visit. Recommendations may include medication and/or referral to counseling or other services.
