La meningococcemia es una infección peligrosa que ocurre cuando la bacteria Neisseria meningitidis invade el torrente sanguíneo. Por lo general hay sangrado dentro de la piel (petequias y púrpura) y puede haber hasta muerte del tejido (necrosis o gangrena).
