ECMO

ECMO son las siglas en inglés para la "oxigenación por membrana extracorpórea". La ECMO se usa con lactantes que están extremadamente enfermos debido a problemas respiratorios o cardíacos. La máquina de ECMO circula la sangre por un pulmón artificial y la lleva de regreso al torrente circulatorio, ofreciendo al bebé una oxigenación adecuada a la vez que permite que los pulmones y el corazón "descansen" o se curen.
