Acumulación de placa arterial
La acumulación de placa en la capa interna de la pared arterial puede causar estrechamiento e irregularidades de ésta. En los sitios donde la estrechez es severa, hay riesgo de que el vaso se obstruya completamente si se forma un trombo o coágulo en el segmento dañado.
