Distal
Definición
Se refiere a sitios que se localizan lejos de un punto de referencia. Cuando se usa en medicina, se refiere a partes del cuerpo alejadas del centro. Por ejemplo, la mano es distal al hombro. El pulgar es distal a la muñeca. Por lo regular, ese punto de referencia es el centro o la línea media del cuerpo.
Distal es lo opuesto a proximal.
