Peristaltismo
Definición
Es una serie de contracciones musculares organizadas que ocurren a todo lo largo del tubo digestivo y que también se observa en los órganos tubulares que conectan los riñones a la vejiga.
El peristaltismo es un proceso automático e importante que moviliza los alimentos a través del aparato digestivo, al igual que lleva la orina desde los riñones a la vejiga y la bilis desde la vesícula biliar hasta el duodeno.
El peristaltismo es una función normal del cuerpo que algunas veces se puede sentir en el abdomen durante el tránsito de los gases.
