La prueba para detectar gases en la sangre se realiza extrayendo una muestra de sangre de una arteria a través de una aguja. El examen se realiza para evaluar las condiciones y enfermedades respiratorias que afectan a los pulmones y determinar la efectividad de la terapia con oxígeno.
