Esta es una microfotografía del organismo que causa la pneumonía pneumocócica. Las bacterias son redondas, pero se unen para formar cadenas. Con frecuencia, estas bacterias se unen formando pares y se conocen como diplococos; el prefijo "di" significa dos.Neumonía neumocócica
