La embolia que afecta al tronco del encéfalo puede ser potencialmente mortal, debido a que esta área del cerebro controla funciones tales como la respiración y hace que el corazón palpite. La embolia del tronco del encéfalo también puede causar visión doble, náusea y pérdida de la coordinación.
