Escorbuto

Definición

Es una enfermedad que ocurre cuando usted tiene una carencia grave de vitamina C (ácido ascórbico) en la alimentación. Ésta causa debilidad general, anemia, gingivitis y hemorragias cutáneas.

El escorbuto es infrecuente en los Estados Unidos. Se observa con mayor frecuencia en adultos mayores y desnutridos.
