About the Seminar

New technologies are making it easier to know more about your entire genetic blueprint and your genetic risks for medical problems. In fact, reading your genes could someday become as common as getting an X-ray, leading to diagnoses and treatments tailored just for you.

Whole genome sequencing offers much promise, but it also raises many questions. Learn how researchers at the Iowa Institute of Human Genetics are helping shape the future of personalized medicine and what that means for you.

Presenters

  • Richard Smith, MD, Director of the Iowa Institute of Human Genetics, Sterba Hearing Research Professor, Co-Director, Iowa Center for Auditory Regeneration and Deafness, and Vice Chair, Department of Otolaryngology
  • Janet Williams, PhD, N, FAAN, Professor, UI College of Nursing and Chair of Behavioral and Social Science Research Institutional Review Board
